After graduating from the University of Iowa in December, quarterback Tyler Wiegers is headed to Eastern Michigan where he will begin classes this month. As a graduate transfer, Wiegers will be able to play right away for the Eagles and hopes to win the starting quarterback job in 2018.

"I'm excited to join the program here at Eastern Michigan and look forward to the opportunity," Wiegers said in a press release from EMU. "Coach Creighton is building something special and I cannot wait to make an impact. It's great to be back home in Michigan, close to family, and have the chance to compete for playing time. I am very thankful and excited for the future."

Originally from Lake Orion, MI, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Wiegers was a four-star prospect coming out of Detroit Country Day in the Class of 2014. As a junior this past season, he served as Iowa’s backup quarterback behind starter Nate Stanley.
