We are really in the homestretch of the college football season with just three weeks left in the regular season. In our Hawkeye Report Pick Six contest, well, it wasn’t the best week for anyone on our panel.
Blair Sanderson and Torbee were the only experts who were above .500 this week with 4-2 records. It was an especially rough week for Mike Zierath, who went 2-4 and Lyle Hammes, who went 1-5. Serves all of us right for picking against Iowa last week. HA!
In the overall race, RDietz is in the lead with a 39-15 overall record, Blair Sanderson is right on his tail with a 38-16 mark. Matt Randazzo is at 37-17 and Mike Zierath is at 36-18. The rest of us are probably out of the running at this point.
Once again this week we will be picking six games.
Michigan State at Ohio State
Oklahoma State at Iowa State
Notre Dame at Miami
Georgia at Auburn
Nebraska at Minnesota
Iowa at Wisconsin
Here are the picks:
MATT RANDAZZO (3-3 last week, 37-17 overall)
Ohio State
Oklahoma State
Notre Dame
Auburn
Minnesota
Wisconsin wins 20-17
RDIETZ (3-3 last week, 39-15 overall)
tOSU
OK State
ND
Auburn
Row that Boat
Wisconsin 24 Iowa 13. Stanley with 220 yards and another TD pass
LYLE HAMMES (1-5 last week, 35-19 overall)
Ohio State over Michigan State. (Buckeyes are out for blood.)
Oklahoma State over Iowa State. (For a spot in the Big 12 Championship game?)
Notre Dame over Miami
Georgia over Auburn
Nebraska over Minnesota
Can Iowa capture lightning in a bottle two weeks in row? The biggest key last week was the apparent development of our offensive line. They'll need a repeat performance. Wisconsin is banged up, but they're a very good team. They also want to make a statement for the playoff committee. If this were in Kinnick, I would pick Iowa. But, they're not. Wisconsin 24 - Iowa 17. My picks-to-click will be the same as I chose last week (tight ends). Fant and Hockenson have to have big games.
TORBEE (4-2 last week, 26-22 overall)
Ohio State licks its wounds and then licks the Spartans.
Iowa State's march back to irrelevancy continues, the Cowboys will destroy them.
Convicts over Catholics.
Dawgs roll, beat Auburn.
The only thing worse than a leaky boat is being led by an ex-Beaver. Minny wins and we all laugh at Nebraska again.
Maybe it's the serotonin overload from the Ohio State game, or maybe it's because I've had the Wisconsin game marked down as a win all off-season, but I think Iowa does well in Madison again and beats the Badger somewhat comfortably, 27-17. My pick to click is the kid from Menomonee Falls, Nate Stanley.
MIKE ZIERATH (2-4 last week, 36-18 overall)
I think OSU bounces back
I think OSU bounces back
Miami goes down. Domers win.
Georgia continues to roll through the SEC
Nebraska will win one on the road
This is an emotional pick.......give me the Hawks. We will see if Bucky is for real. Iowa 24, Wisconsin 17. My POC this week is TJ Hockenson.
BLAIR SANDERSON (4-2 last week, 38-16 overall)
Ohio State
Oklahoma State
Miami
Georgia
Minnesota
Wisconsin 24, Iowa 21. PTC is James Butler.
TOM KAKERT (3-3 last week, 33-21 overall)
Just don’t think the Spartans have enough offense. Give me the Buckeyes
The Cowboys will score big on the ISU D and win comfortably
Domers are for real and I think they are headed to the CFP
I think Auburn surprises the Dogs
Tough one here, but I think the Huskers win a close game.
Wisconsin wins 20-17. My pick to click this week is T.J. Hockenson.
JOHN KERTH (3-3 last week, 21-9 overall)
Ohio State over Michigan
Oklahoma State over Iowa State
Notre Dame over Miami
Georgia over Auburn
Minnesota over Nebraska
Maybe last week’s win is fogging my vision a bit, but I think Iowa pulls off the upset over an injury-riddled Wisconsin. Iowa 20, Wisconsin 16. Josey Jewell finishes with 15 tackles and a forced fumble.
