A barrage of sophomores, juniors and seniors with connections to the Iowa football program will be competing in the 2023 Drake Relays this Thursday through Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. The Relays bring together some of the best track athletes in the state to compete in a variety of track and field events.
We'll include their seeds and best times, jumps and throws from this season.
100 Meter Dash
A recruit, commit and signee are set to appear in the Drake 100m dash this weekend. 2024 wide receiver from Harlan Cade Sears is seeded 17th with a time of 10.95 seconds, 2023 wide receiver signee Alex Mota is seeded 23rd with a time of 11.00 seconds and 2024 running back commit Brevin Doll is seeded 28th with a time of 11.03 seconds.
Though Doll is listed as an entry, he may sit out this weekend to avoid aggravating a nagging hip injury. If he is able to run, he may also compete in ADM's 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays. Doll has PRs of 10.74 in the 100 meter dash and 21.89 in the 200 meter dash.
110-Meter Hurdles
Iowa Falls-Alden prep Jaden Damiano is seeded fourth in the 110-Meter High Hurdles with a time of 14.42. He's the reigning 3A champion in the 110mh and the 400mh. Damiano is an athlete with football and track interest from Iowa.
4x100 Meter Relay
The 4x100 is loaded with potential future Hawkeyes.

4x200 Meter Relay
Harlan is the lone 4x200 meter relay squad with Hawkeye connections. Hall and Sears are joined by Jacob Birch and Wil Neuharth, who are also on the 4x100 meter relay squad. Neuharth is a Division 1 track & field prospect with offers from Pitt, Indiana, Army, and Sacramento State.
The team is seeded third with a time of 1:28.63.
Shuttle Hurdle
Central Lyon sends its shuttle hurdle relay squad that includes 2024 recruits, wide receiver Reece Vander Zee and safety Graham Eben. The team is seeded 12th with a time of 1:01.36.
Long Jump
2024 commit and linebacker at Winfield-Mt. Union Cam Buffington will participate in the long jump. He's seeded 13th with a jump of 22'2.5".
High Jump
Another 2024 commit, Derek Weisskopf is seeded 12th with a jump of 6'6" this season. He's the reigning 2A state champion, and his PR from last season is 6'9".
Shot Put
2023 PWO from Waukee Northwest Cael Winter will throw the shot put, and is seeded 12th with a throw of 55-02.25.
