Jacob Coons reports to Iowa City on June 10th.

Growing up just north of Iowa City in Solon, tight end Jacob Coons cannot wait to begin his career with the Hawkeyes and swarm out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium. We caught up with the 6-foot-4, 220-pound Coons, who will wear #88 at Iowa, to talk about his upcoming freshman year and much more.

Q: When do you make the move to Iowa City this summer?

COONS: I move in June 10th.

Q: What are you looking forward to in starting workouts with the team?

COONS: I am looking forward to meeting new people and continuing to work hard.

Q: What are your goals for your freshman year? Are you hoping to play or expecting to redshirt?

COONS: My goal is to play as soon as I can. If it's next year great, but I'm not too worried about that.

Q: What was it like visiting spring practice last month now that you are so close to being there?

COONS: It was like a dream come true. I can't wait to get to Iowa City and work with all the guys.

Q: What will it mean to you to walk out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium for the first time?

COONS: I will probably feel like throwing up to be honest. It will be awesome to swarm out with the Hawks.

Q: When you look back at everything, what was it about Iowa that made it the right place for you?

COONS: What made me choose Iowa was the relationships that I've made with the people there.

Q: What number will you be wearing at Iowa and can we get a quick height and weight update?

COONS: I will be wearing #88 and I am 6-4, 220 pounds.

A three-star prospect, Coons committed to Iowa back on December 12, 2015, choosing the Hawkeyes over a scholarship offer from Iowa State.

As a senior, Coons finished the season with 29 catches for 479 yards and 5 touchdowns for Solon High School.
