Drake forward Cam Manyawu has informed Hawkeye Beacon that he has committed to Iowa out of the transfer portal.
This season for the Bulldogs, Manyawu averaged 7.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 18.8 minutes per game. He started all 35 of Drake's games this season.
A Wyoming transfer, Manyawu started in ten games and played 32 for the Cowboys last season. As a freshman, he put up 7.5 points and 6.7 rebounds over 22.5 minutes per contest.
Manyawu should be able to step up a level and contribute in the front court in Iowa City, likely as big that's willing to do the dirty work in the second unit at the Big Ten level. A post with a junkyard-dog style of play, Manyawu protected the rim for the Bulldogs, served as a strong screener and was a lob threat for the guards on Drake's roster.
After two years of college ball, Manyawu has two years of eligibility remaining.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Manyawu earned first team all-state honors as senior, along with guiding Staley Hight School to the 2023 Missouri Class 6 state title. He held offers from Indiana State, South Dakota and Oral Roberts in addition to Wyoming out of high school.
Mayawu is the third transfer commit to choose Iowa, following Drake teammates Bennett Stirtz and Kael Combs.
