After making an official visit with the Iowa Hawkeyes this past weekend, New Jersey wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette has backed away from his commitment to Rutgers.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Smith-Marsette announced this evening that he is decommitting and reopening his recruiting.

In addition to Iowa and Rutgers, Smith-Marsette holds a scholarship offer from Boston College, but told us on Sunday that he would be deciding between the two Big Ten schools.

“Those are the two main schools,” said Smith-Marsette following his Iowa visit. “I don’t think I’m going to go do anything else with other schools. It’s just between Iowa and Rutgers right now and I’ve got a lot to think about.”
